Hotel Mumbai
, directed by Anthony Maras is a true
event-based film. It based on the 26/11 Mumbai attacks that took place
in November 2008 and specifically focuses on attacks on The Taj Mahal Palace Hotel.
The film stars Dev Patel, Armie
Hammer, Nazanin Boniadi, Anupam Kher,
and
Jason Isaacs.
Arjun played by Dev Patel works in at Taj Hotel under head chef Hemant Oberoi played by
Anupam
Kher. Oberoi always reminds his staff that "Guest is God". 10
terrorists’ attack 12 different locations of the city and since the
local Police were not trained to tackle such a situation, soon there is an environment of chaos.
The film is shown from the perspective of Hotel Staff. It
shows the efforts made by hotel staff to protect their guests. The
terrorist attack was the biggest coordinated terror attack of
the world and the operations to neutralize the terrorists took almost four
days. Still today there are people who don’t know anything about these
attacks in which approx. 166 people were killed.
The attacks were like a nightmare to the guests and the
country itself. Most of the movie is shown without overdramatizing, but yet leaves
some crucial things behind without mentioning it. The movie never
dares to reveal the names of the true people who were behind the
attacks and also do not mention the country(Pakistan) who sponsored these
attacks.
The director has maintained the accuracy of the events
and relies upon reality. It bravely shows the cruelty of the terrorists. All the
actors have given commendable performances. The background score
supports the tense situation and is used efficiently. Overall Hotel Mumbai is a
breathtaking
and violent movie.
Movies like this are not for enjoyment
. You have to feel about the pain
of the families of the people killed. Hotel Mumbai with some demerits still
able to achieve its target.
Everyone should watch it at least once.
