Ford v Ferrari/Le Mans '66
is a 2019 biographical drama film directed by James Mangold
starring Matt Damon and Christian Bale, with Jon Bernthal, Caitriona Balfe, and Josh Lucas.
Set in the early 1960s, this is the story of a
retired car racer turned car seller, Carroll
Shelby (Matt Damon) and a badass mechanic cum British racer, Ken Miles (Christian Bale). Henry
Ford II after a failed deal to purchase Ferrari, hires Shelby to set up a team and build a car to bury
Ferrari at Le Mans (a 24-hour sports
car race). Shelby hires Ken Miles, a car expert and talented driver to find
problems/bugs in the cars.
One of the top Oscar contenders, Ford v. Ferrari, sped into theatres at 7000 rpm. This film is a masterwork thanks to James Mangold's outstanding work behind the camera and the rich character development. Dialogues are excellent and productive. Watching car races on a big screen is an amazing experience. Racing scenes are blasting, and it's nearly impossible to tell if CGI is utilized or not. You become invested in the characters right away, and this keeps the action going until the very end.
Oscar
winners Bale and Damon have once again proved how talented these guys are. Both are extraordinary. They give their own texture and layers to the characters. All the supporting characters
are well-written and acted. Caitriona
Balfe (Miles’ wife) is a strong woman
who cares about her husband a lot; Noah Jupe as Miles' son who believes in his
dad and loves racing like him; Ray McKinnon as Shelby’s most trusted engineer also marks his place.
It's
definitely the best racing-based movie
I have ever seen. Even if you don't have any knowledge of racing cars or racing
events, you are gonna enjoy this thriller
ride for sure. Movies like this must be seen on big screens/theatres. The movie is perfect on all grounds and is
very effective. So gear up yourself
and enjoy the ride.
one of the best movies...
